PCED Site Wins International Award

ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Pinellas County Economic Development (PCED) was named a winner in the annual Promotional Material Awards competition held by the American Economic Development Council. The award for excellence was given to PCED in recognition of its Web site, www.siliconbay.org, developed and hosted by St. Petersburg-based DataGlyphics, Inc.
The American Economic Development Council is the nation's oldest and largest professional association of economic developers. Its international competition showcases the best efforts of economic development organizations in attracting and retaining business and industry in their communities through their marketing materials.

The Board of County Commissioners and the County Administrator created Pinellas County Economic Development in late 1997. PCED's mission is to retain existing businesses as well as attract new high-quality businesses that pay a living wage. The aim is to improve the business climate within the county by acting as a liaison between public and private sectors while facilitating the availability of a qualified workforce. The mission is accomplished through the initiatives of five sections in the Department: Business Assistance, Business Communication & Marketing, International Business Development, Business Recruitment, and Business Research.
