DataGlyphics Client Site Receives High Honors
9/2/2003
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – DataGlyphics Inc., a St. Petersburg-based Web development firm, today announced that its client, Pinellas County Economic Development (PCED), received High Honors at the ACCRA 2003 annual conference. ACCRA, a nonprofit organization promoting excellence in research for economic and community development and producer of the Cost of Living Index, recognized PCED's Web site – www.siliconbay.org – as an outstanding economic development research tool based on its use of the Networking Directory.
The Networking Directory began in 1998 as a paper list of local manufacturers and in 1999 it was made into a Web-based system. Members login and create a username and password that allows them to add and update their corporate profiles at any time. Company name, address, product/service descriptions and e-mail addresses are required fields. Additional optional fields include: NAICS code, headquarters location, year established, number of employees, officer information, bulk e-mail preferences and import and export countries.
"We are constantly enhancing the site's Networking Directory to make it easier for member companies to submit their information and for users to search the database," said Michael Maruschak, business IT specialist with PCED. "And by working with our Web developer, DataGlyphics, we've created a very dynamic system that evolves as we receive feedback and new priorities from our members."
Recently, PCED implemented the Business Opportunities Section of the Networking Directory. Now, Networking Directory members can add, edit or delete requests for products or services from local companies – and their requests are automatically circulated through the Networking Directory’s e-mail system.
The Networking Directory at www.siliconbay.org is a free business directory that helps businesses locate local suppliers and customers. As of March 2003 more than 1,600 Pinellas County companies had submitted their corporate information to the service.
"DataGlyphics has worked with PCED since the inception of its Web-based Networking Directory," said William H. Stover, Jr., CEO of DataGlyphics. "The directory has evolved to become a valuable supply chain tool that provides quality, detailed information about our local companies – and it remains free to members and users. It's definitely a key part of PCED's mission of promoting our area companies and industries."
